What's Done is Done, Temporarily

IMG 0047

So, I found my way to Manic Panic today. What a reassuring name for a hair salon--what could possibly go wrong? Nikki warmly greeted me and didn't even ask if I was lost--just what did I want her to do to my hair. I whipped out my trusty photo of Annette Bening ...

... and told Nikki "Like this, only with some purple," and she got to work.

An hour or so later, brown and grey gone, we added the purple:

And here's the result.

Whaddya think? I'm not entirely thrilled with the purple, but I love the blonde. Which is a good thing, because the purple will fade in no time, but the bleach is permanent. All in all, a pretty good day.

  1. It's great!!!!! How long before the purple fades? I wish I had the nerve to do this, but cpa's are not supposed to have purple hair...sigh....

  2. You will like the purple when it settles down a bit. It is so funny though because the young kids will like it. (maybe not your daughter-you are the 'mom' to her!)

  5. That's a real slippery slope you are trying to tip me down, Jane and Magpie! What comes after the glasses?

  6. Oh, you did it! Yay! I think once the purple fades a bit and isn't quite such a contrast to the blonde you might feel differently about it. Personally I agree with Terry, particularly about the young kids. My Mum used to use hair mascara to paint the tips of her hair gold, silver, blue, purple and red (all at the same time), perhaps if you stick to the blonde and use those you can choose your colour to compliment your outfit ;)

  9. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! LOVE THAT! you are totally my hero for sure.

Defintely need some new glasses to go with the new you. Go try on every pair in the optician's to see what works. (I'm partial to red glasses, but then I'm a winter.... maybe.... blue?)

If you don't want to blow a lot of money on glasses, get your head/eye measurements taken at your local optomitrist's and then try some of the online glasses. They're like $10 for "regular" and $25 for bifocal. You can try a few things out without spending lots of loot.

  10. Ooh I am such a sucker for purple hair! But every time I try it, I end up fading to ginger within a couple of weeks, which is definteily not the edgy look I was going for!
Your other fans are right - new glasses are in order!

  13. LOVE IT :-)
and totally agree about the purple settling down - i used to have jet black with a splash of bleach and it takes a day/wash or two for them to relax onto your hair
seriously amazing hair though, with or without the purple!
